Hi -
I have been taking 150mgs zoloft a day for the past four years and I am very happy with it with the exception of some sleep disturbance side effects (that I take medication for too). I would wait more than two weeks to see if the 100mgs work. I believe I waited a month or maybe even a month and a half before determining the final dosage (with the assistance of my pdoc of course (: )

Everyone has different side effects, but I know that the sleep disturbances increase with the amount of zoloft taken - - if I could take less I would. But all in all I am very happy with the zoloft.

Good Luck!

Stacie,

don't you have any sexual side effects? I find that everytime i go on zoloft i have no sex drive and i am unable to reach orgasm. Has this happened to you or anyone else?

I've been on 50 mg Zoloft for over a week.

I was prescribed this after being diagnosed as clinically depressed, body dysmorphic and pathalogically jealous.

All of these emotions really calmed down after about three days on the drug. I know that is soon but I could really tell a difference and there was no denying it. I went from suicidal to at least hopeful within 3 days.

My side effects have been nausea, loss of appetite, headache and just an overall "numb", "spacey" feeling. This is nothing compared to the mental hell I was putting myself though before. However, my sex drive has INCREASED. I am "in the mood" 24 hours a day. I do not know how it is affecting my orgasm b/c it always took me a lot longer than most women to climax. I DO know my orgasms are wayyy more intense. I am able to enjoy sex more overall b/c I am not obsessing over my body and that's a good feeling.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my Zoloft experience. I hope I can continue to take this until I get better w/ Therapy.

Two weeks might not be enough time for it to kick in. I was started with 50 mg, and later my dose was raised to 100 mg. It never kicked in and I had bad side effects. I'm just saying this because even if Zoloft has helped many people, it's not for everyone. If you don't see any improvement after four weeks, ask for a different medication. Raising your dose is probably not the solution since you are already taking 100 mg. My father was very happy with only 25 mg.

Ellen - I've been really lucky. No, no sexual side effects. Really, the only problem I have had has been with sleep and for that I take additional medication.

Used to. Hated it. Sexual side effects? Oh My Gawd, yes. ( I wonder if it is worse in males than females.)
ALL anti-depressants take at least 3 weeks or as much as 3 months to actually work. Zoloft does not work for everyone, but you have to give it time to find out. my dosage was 125mg.. ( I've been on anti-depressants for 18 years..)
BTW, since all patients are different into how the drug acts or works for you, just because I hated it, doesn't mean it won't work perfectly for you. The side effects I kept having were irritability, agitation, I couldn't sleep.. and uhh RLS flared up. :)

Good Luck

I'm on 100mg Zoloft. I've been as high as 200mg. I was on a maintenance dose of 50mg for about a year. Now I'm depressed again and going up in the dosage - to 200 if necessary.

Give it another week and see how you're doing then. Everyone's different, but you could go considerably higher if 100 isn't really working for you.
