Seriously, has anyone had good results from a hemorroidectomy? I'm thinking of going ahead with surgery, but i've read so much suffering, ongoing suffring, i'm not sure anymore. i'm really scared. some good results would make a world of difference.

thanks in advance.

Tonl,
Most members that post here are looking for answers about their problems with hemorrhoids and after surgery pain!!
I have not seen much written about good experiences in the 6+ years I have been on this board.

It is a painful surgical experience.

My advice is to do the things necessary to not ever get hemorrhoids--- the major cause being CONSTPATION.

Thanks Harry for your acknowledgement.

I know it is a painful operation, and i do appreciate reading the posts with helpful advise on how to get through it all.

i was just hoping to hear from someone saying that it was all worth it, that they are glad they had it done, ect. just something of reassurance to help you make up your mind on wether to have it done or not.

I mean if it doesn't help, and you still have problems , why even have the surgery? why go through all that pain? i was just looking for good results. I have never had any operation in my life, i'm 58. i am scared, but will have this if i feel it will fix the problem , but if it only creates more problems, why have it? do you know what i mean.

The colo rectal surgeon i've seen says i have 2 large hemorroids and a rectocele . i am constantly using otc stuff to combat the pain and pressure, but i've done this for a long time.

i'm just confused, i don't mind going through it if it will help. oh i mind, but i'll do it if i have something good to look forward to. of course dr. says it will be better, i just wanted someone to say,' Yes, i'm glad i had it done.'

sorry to be such a pain. again Harry, thanks for your acknowleding my post.

i was suppose to have this done in Sept. put it off. now have another appt. with dr for Tuesday. trying to make decision. i am losing good insurance in may so if i want this done, i'm hoping to have enough time to do it before i change insurances.

Toni,
The operation is definately worth having to get rid of the problems. I don't know of anyone that is not glad that they have had it but certainly don't want to experience it again.
Some experiences are better than others.
I suggest you read the thread by Tammy --Hemorrhoidectomy Blues --on this board. It contains some pointer about how to avoid problems after surgery. But it is 200 pages long.

I wish you well~~~Harry

Harry, after my last post, i googled hemorroidectomy success stories, and guess what? i ended up right back here. first i came to a few posts from kaunFM and Pooh bear from last july, and then i came across Hblues and tammy, msneb, suzy Q and many more from 2003.

It truly is was exactly what i've been looking for. yes, i see there are many pages, but what i've read has helped me much. i have bookmarked it and plan on reading more, but from what i have already read i feel much better about moving ahead with surgery.

thanks to all of you, harry first and then to tammynoska and all. tammy, if you're still on board i'd like to know how you're doing now. maybe it's in the blues posts, i don't know how long that thread went on. i'll have to check

i'll keep you updated, i'm sure i'll be looking for more help.

gratefully, toni
