I am interested in the Methadose vs Methadone discussion. I am looking at my husband's bottle, and it says "Methadone Malin". I am assuming that the pharmacy just typed Methadone as the generic name, or something. I also assume that the "Malin" would stand for Malinkrodt. So he would be taking Methadose. I have followed the discussion that the pain control is better with the Roxanne version. Would the side effects be different? Or just more because you need to take more to get the same effect? My husband's main problem is sleepiness, but he had the problem while he was on Neurontin and Methadone, even before the Lyrica and before the Topomax. (Although it is really extreme now). So if he could take less Methadone, that would be good. Or is the chemical composition more potent in the Roxanne version so the side effects would be the same, because you are getting the same amount of the chemical in a lesser dosage. Am I making sense?

This is a good question !...Im on the methadose ( mallinkrod or whatever) and am SO sleepy at times...I have been taking half doses thru out the day because of it. I take a whole one first thing in AM. My doc wants to raise my dose but Im afraid itll make me sleepier. So I said Ill go another month and see how I do ( I just saw him WED for my 1 month followup after the switch to methadone/methadose) . I might just ask to up my break thru or something, I dunno ! ...guess Ill see in 3 1/2 weeks ! ......what dose is your husband taking ? How long has he been on methadone/methadose ?

He has been on it for several years. Right now he is taking 120 mg divided into 40, 40, and 40 six hours apart. (Except when he doesn't get up until 2:00, the doses are closer together!)
