Ok I have a question. I have been on percocet, neurontin and oxycontin for almost 2 years, I only took the oxycontin for about 6 months but stoped because it didn't help with the nerve pain and my doctor put me on the neurontin but the percocet I have been on since june 04. My question is, What are the symptoms of withdrawl? I think I have cut myself off too soon. I went from the percocet 10/650mg 5 times a day and neurontin 1800mg a day to lortab 10mg every 4 hours and neurontin 600mg once a day. I have been feeling wierd lately. and was wondering if I could be going thru withdrawls? The doctor that I have been seeing all along told me I might have to go into detox because of the amount and the lenghth of time I have been on these meds and the neurosurgeon that did my surgery told me to just stop taking the neurontin and then gave me the lortabs. I cut back as much as I could on the neurontin I had because I had to slowly increase the dosage and so I went down the same way.

You should read some of the posts on the Addiction forum, it's a right eye opener; you sound like you're doing ok considering the doses you've come off; but for sure you will be facing W/D's at some point. Even the Neuortin dose your on needs about a 2 weeks taper ideally and the opiates are best tapered off slowly if you can manage this. Most non addicts should have no problem with this, so I don't see why you should need to go to a detox centre, unless you have a problematic history?

You should try the oxycontin again. The oxycodone (percocet) that you take is quick acting and doesn't last very long at all.A poor drug if you have chronic pain. The oxycontin is the same drug except it's sustain release and sometimes they take a few days to build up in your system(serum level). Then whe you have break through pain you can take a couple percocets and they should kill the break through.....Dave
