You're gonna have so much fun with that granddaughter. What a delight to see her again. I have a daughter who lives in Fla and only get to see her son twice a year. That is bad enough....
Have fun! Enjoy your trip! Take lots of pics! and check in when you can. We'll be waiting to hear about all your good times!

Dear friends,
Thank you all for your good wishes. Since being on this Board (late 2004) I have regained my sanitry, learned to accept my limitations, and to go on with my life so I can be of use to many people, instead of just squeezing myself dry to be there for one person, my Mom.
By a strange chain of coincidences she wound up in a nice nursing home where she will be well cared for for the rest of her life. And I have no more guilt about having done the wrong thing or 'given up.' I promised to take care of Mom ... and this nursing home is giving her the professional, around the clock care that she needs.
I can go off on a long trip without fear of what will happen to Mom while I'm away. That is just one factor. I surely would have seen my granddaughter more often if it hadn't been for my caregiver role. We have to prioritize.
The worst thing is the expense ... there ought to be a way to have NH care covered on all of our various types of health insurance, including Medicare.
I'll keep in touch whenever I can.

I do hope Martha got on her flight and everything went ok. No delays, I hope. It's really wicked weather out her way today. A risk of severe thunderstorms and wind. We had it last night and it was awful here. We have even worse wind today but no rain. The wind gusts are up to 70 mph here with sustained winds at about 30 mph. Try driving a school bus in THAT! I had a death grip on the steering wheel! :)

I do have dental ins. here but things are Sooo expensive that even with coverage I will pay almost as much as in the usa ..began today with 3 fillings ...
