I think I screwed up and used my natural progesterone cream too early and now I am spotting and feel pain in my ovary. And am scared and need some advise.
I decided to start using the cream by Pro-Gest because I feel I have alot of the estrogen dominance symptoms (too many to list) and because my anxiety was out of control last month, especially around my period. And am in perimenopause. My periods are still coming monthly but irregular as they always have been.
The directions say to start on day 8 if you are perimenopausal (menstrating with cycle changes). Well, I just read the peri part (I have no cycle changes)and started on day 8. I think I should have started on day 14.
I took 1/8th tsp 2x's on the 8th day. On the 9th and 10th I took only 1/8th tsp once a day. I took so little of the cream, I can't understand why I am bleeding and having minor pain now.
On the night of day 10 I started feeling a sharp cramp like on my right side where my ovary is...the next morning, I wiped and saw blood. Not alot but still I freaked out...this has never happened to me before.
On day 11 (today) I did not use any cream and tonight I felt that sharp pain again, and after a few short hours I saw blood again. I guess that's called spotting. See I never had this before....so much for helping with my amxiety!!
Did this ever happen to anyone? Why did this happen? Did I use it too early? How is this possible with so little cream so fast? Will I be okay?
Thanks for any posts.

I thought that one would use progresterone cream during the latter part of your cycle because that's when it normally would drop off and you are helping to replace it so that it stays at a normal level. I'm not sure exactly why it would have affected you in this way and make you spot. Could it be a coincidence?
A couple of years ago I started using an over the counter Progesterone cream. I honestly don't remember how much I used, but I think I took small doses every day (am and pm) except for 7 days at my period. This was in response to peri symptoms of hard cramping, short cycles, PMS and mild insomnia. After 10-12 months, I started having many more HORRIBLE symptoms (which I won't bother to list), and sought the help of a doctor who deals with bio-identical hormones. I had a saliva test and found that I was low in ALL hormones. So the moral of my story is that although my symptoms could have been from being estrogen dominant, they were if fact a result of not having enough estrogen. I think when I used the progesterone cream, it really whacked out my hormones!
Sorry to be long winded, but my suggestion would be that if you are not responding in a positive way to the progesterone, I'd seek help from a Dr.

Yeah, that is what I want to do but finding a doctor that understands, believes in and prescribed natural hormones is very difficult.

Hi,
I have not had any luck with natural Progestrone cream. I started it about 3 months ago for heavy long periods. I think the periods got worse while I was on the cream. Dr. Lee's book said it is to help flooding periods, but I found no relief. No change in any other symptoms I was having either. I have ovary pain all the time and know that I have a cyst on my left ovary. The Progesterone cream didn't help with that either. I had used the cream several years ago too for over 6 months, didn't help then either. I don't why I thought it would help now. I didn't want to use BCP's but I finally gave in. Use your own judgement, but I think the cream is a waste of money, at least it was for me. Ann
