anyone here question an association between taking one of the statins, especially the lipophilic statins such as lipitor or zocor, and the onset of Parkinson's or worsening of parkinson's symptoms? thanks, new member

My cousin has Parkinson's and he is an oncologist(his wife is a registared nurse). After taking lipitor, he became mush worse. Lipitor blocks co emzyne Q 10. After taking large doses of this,he is back to normal--running and skiing. Before taking co emzyne q 10, he was walking with a shuffle and had to give up almost all of his outdoor activities.

Yes; I've had trouble with Zocor,Lipitor, and the last one was Zetia. There is a count they check (ck) when these drugs start going bad I.E. muscle pain and liver problems.
Well guess what, now I have Parkinsons. I'm taking Requip but to me it's like feeding quarters to a slot machine. It takes about 3 hours for the medicine to work and then wears off in 4 hours. Then another doses and I'm ok for a few.
I swear these Cholesterol drugs have caused this but they look at me like I'm crazy :dizzy: .
Hope this helps.

Kim,
If your question is directed at me the answer is 1200 mg per day.
The other person is right about the nerves being stripped.
This does seem to help a little But for me it's no silver bullet.
