Has anyone here had success with the pill for cysts? I've been suffering 1 1/2 years of pain/pressure/swelling down there EVERY month (several u/s and one laparoscopy) I'm now trying this approach and hoping for some relief. I'm starting it "today" as AF is here. I've never been on the pill - I'm actually trying the Nuvaring.

Seems kinda funny, my husband had a vasectomy years ago, and here I am starting the pill!

I don't know about bc for cysts - sorry. I'm on depo now for possible endo. But I've used the Nuvaring and it is soooo convenient. It just slips in and you forget it's even there. I had to put on the calendar to remember to take the ring out for the period week! It's a very nice form of bc. Hope it works for controlling your cysts and pain. Good luck. :)

Yes, it is normal to go on b.c. for cysts. What happens is it (b.c) stops your ovulation, so it stops the cysts from growing. It is also supposed to slow and reduce the already formed cysts.

I was on Ortho Evra, Yasmin, and Depo for cyst. Unfortunately they dont work for me, I'm a rare case.

Hope you are feeling better.

I started the Pill for cysts (pain so bad I'd wake up moaning, curled up in a ball). Never had a single cyst the whole time I was on it! But I had to stop because my blood pressure got too high from the estrogen, and I had tried 3 different brands. Oh well.
good luck!

Omalll, did you ever try Depo? Its progesterone instead of estrogen? Hope you are well!

Yes BC Pill is used for cysts amoungs other things. I was put on it to regulate my cycle, stop the severe ovulation pain (when I ovulated) stop my period pain. It worked for eveything but the period pain.
The severe ovulation pain I found out a couple of years ago was ovarian cysts. I was on Orthotrycyclen for approximately 6 years. It only worked for 4 years. Then I was switched to Ovcon 35, then Low-Ovaral then Low Ogestrol, the Cyclessa all in a 9 month period....in which none of them worked. Then ended up with a Lap, D&C then a hyst.
Hopefuly it will help you. Is it one cyst, a cluster of cysts and how big??
