I went to my eye doctor who said I have 20/25 vision in both my eyes. I also have a stigmatism which is why my eyes get blurry. Does anyone have this? I also have problems seeing at night while driving. He said that's also because of the stigmatism. Does anyone else have that problem?
Thank You,
Bernice

1st, it's "astigmatism". 2nd, almost everyone has some to one degree or another. Instead of your cornea being perfectly spherical, one meridian is curved more than the other.

Yes, very, very common. When you get glasses, the second number in the prescription will be the amount of astigmatism, the third number will be the angle it takes (or maybe its position--that measurement is out of 360 degrees.)

I was diagnosed with astigmatism last month. I had most of my difficulties driving at night, because of the way headlights and streetlights would blur. It was not as bothersome during the day, although I had some problems during the day reading road signs.
I was examined thorougly by my ophtamologist and received a prescription for lenses to correct the astigmatism. I got my glasses last week, and what an improvement! Night driving is not a problem, and I have greatly improved vision during the day, looking down the road and reading roadsigns. Everything is so sharp and clear.
My new eyeglasses have magnetized clip-on sunshades and are very easy to use. I also use the new prescription lenses for watching TV, as recommended by my eye doctor. I am pleased with the results. Thank goodness for eyeglasses!
