sorry if this kind of thread has already been posted, but my mums friend hasn't been well recently, i've known her for many years and she is the last person i would have thought to have this kind of illness. She always seemed pretty rational but recently, things are different, she bought a £400 fountain (she lives in a second floor flat), she got fired for not going to work and bought a shop and doesn't know what to do. she spent about 2 weeks in bed not eating, she brought the takings home from her shop on the 1st day open and realized she didn't know what to do (did the banking everyday at work) so she went to bed for 2 days.
Apparantly she has been doing these kind of things for years but has always appeared to hide them pretty well until recently and i was wondering if perhaps symptoms can get worse the older you get, she has never seen a doctor for long enough for a diagnosis to be made. She takes antidepressants off her own back, but i don't think this will help with her manic episodes (not that i have a clue, 1st night looking). My mums really worried, she doesnt have anyone close and we live a bit away, she only found out as a concerned collegue phoned, her parents passed away in her teen. We phone her everyday but sometimes she doesnt answer.
Sorry to blather on, but we don't know what to do. We don't want to frighten her by saying you have this, but just wondered if a)it gets worse with age and b)how we can her to approach this?
again, sorry to go on!
thank you!
