My 17 yr. old daughter has been experiencing a sharp pain between her breastbone and bellybutton whenever she tries to eat something. She's hungry, but can only eat a few bites and feels full and sick. I've read where pain from ulcers usually come a few hours after eating and in the middle of the night. But her sharp pain is immediate. I will be calling the dr. in the morning, but just wanted to get some opinions here in the meantime. She's lost 10 lbs. in the past week.
Thanks in advance.

Have her checked immediatly before problems get worse.
Those are the same signs i had before,i ended up in the hospital with 2
bleeding ulcers, and exsploratory surgery. Ask her if she has any pain at
all in between her shoulder blades that comes and goes-will have shortness
of breath. Drinking of water-if it makes her feel ill.

With me i would go days and not be hungry at all,if i tried to eat it would
make me sick. And then other days i couldnt get enough to eat. It was
very strange. Also the more activity i done,it seamed to make it worse/
onset of pain just below my breast bone and just above the navel. some
times i would vomit stomache acid/sometimes with specks of blood.
another indication she might have an ulcer. Is if when passing stools if
theres blood mixed in it. if she smokes cig. at all-makes the problem
worse.

If antacids are not helping or temporarily masking the problem, she should
really be checked out. Im not trying to scare you. But if she does have
a ulcer left untreated it could become a bleeding ulcer. And bleeding ulcers
left untreated could become life threating, like what happened to me.

I am no doctor-but thought i would share some of what i went through,
in hopes that it might be of some help to you.
