I have had a burning tongue for 9 months now. It is so bad 24/7 that I can hardly take it any more.
I was put on 0.5 Clonazepam three times a day (starting last Oct.) It helped a bit for about 2 months but it is raging again. Nov. and Dec. weren't bad but it is back with a vengence.
Has anyone else out there have this type of plague? Do you know any thing that can cause it?
If so what are you doing for it?
HELP!

Oh dear, what a horrible thing to have. A couple of things come to mind, "glossodynia" and "glossoprosis".
Other causes could be tobacco, gastric acid reflux, allergies, oral candida, diabetes, nutritional deficiencies, dental disease, depression, infections, oral cancer, medications, diabetes, hormone deficiency, dry mouth, inflammatory disorders, lingual nerve damage.
Sure hope you find the cause real soon and get relief.

I know when I use certain types of toothpaste my tongue feels like that. Did you think about changing your toothpaste? I hope it helps...I know it is an annoying problem.

Hi,
Have you had your vitimin b12 levels checked? I have a b12 deficiency and one of my most annoying symptoms before treatment was a burning and sore tongue. It might be worth requesting a blood test just to rule this out as it is easily treated if that is what is causing the sore tongue. The only other thing I can think of is glossitis.
Alison.

My tongue burns when I inhale certain chemicals like: silicon or moulding paste, etc.
My tongue also burns when my Thrush acts up. Caused by mold.
