Would anyone know if you can still get pregnant the week that you are not ovulating?

Actually it's funny you say that. I just came acroos a site the other day wich discusses women who have become pregnant when they are not ovulating. I think they called it a mystery cycle or something. I don't know I didn't really believe it. They said that if you give them money they will chart your mystery ovulation days for you and that if they coincide with your natural ovulation day then you have 99% chance of getting pregnant on that day. I just think it's a scam to get money out of honest ppl just ttc. However, if you do a search on it you may come up with the site and read the testimonials from a couple couples that say it works. Good luck and baby dust to all!

I would think you can only get pregnant when you are ovulating since there needs to be an egg there for the sperm to fertilize. That doesn't mean you have to BD on the actual day you ovulate in order to get pregnant though as sperm can live for up to 5 days. So you may BD 4 days before you ovulate but conception won't actually occur until the egg is released. And I think I read that the egg dies within about 24 hours so it would have to happen within about 24 hours of ovulation. So I don't think it is possible to conceive more than 24 hours after you ovulate since the egg would have died. It is possible to ovulate at different times in your cycle other than the standard day 12-16, so someone who conceives on day 21 for example would not have conceived when they weren't ovulating, they just would have ovulated late in their cycle. Hope that helps!

I was of the understanding that you can only get pg around the time of ovulation and no other time of your cycle. I could be wrong though!

Some women may experience more than one ovulation in a cycle, though.

And your ovulation date might be really off from "normal" one month, making those mysterious conceptions more explainable.

I thought this was going to be a post about BDing... of course you can always do that when not ovulating! In fact, I would recommend it just so that DH doesn't think you want him just for his little swimmers! :D

You can only get pregnant during ovulation and the only real way to know if you are actually ovulating is to have an exam by the doctor. Most women don't run to the dr. to have this done everytime they "think" they are ovulating.

Personally I think it is just a bunch of milarky if people claim to get pregnant when they are NOT ovulating....I mean, what is that, immaculate conception?

If you aren't charting your cycles I suggest you start, that will really help you determine the day/s that you are ovulating. Check your CM and really pay attention to its' consistancy. I had to do it for 9 months before I finally became pregnant, and many women much longer than that so don't give up! :bouncing:

Actually I was told by my infertility specialist that the egg dies in eight hours and thats why we had to do our IUI within 24 hours of our ovulation test being positive because its usually about 24 hours later.

Also there are actually some women who can ovulate twice in one cycle but that its pretty rare. But again you still are ovulating so, you can only get pregnant if you ovulate. No Egg No Baby!!!
