I know a lot of us on here dealing with the tmj thing have some sort of posture problem, mostly head forward. Has anyone been able to improve their posture by doing anything that you can share with us all? I 'm really trying to improve my posture, but its a challenge and at work its even harder because I sit at a computer all day. Let me know please..any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

I do the excersizes in the book " Taking Control of TMJ" by Robert Upgaard religiously. It's done wonders!!! I can definitely feel the difference in my posture from what it was to what it is now.
Basically you have to be conscience of it ALL day and correct it when you slouch. THen eventually you notice you don't have to correct it as often because you are already sitting or standing straight.
Like every thing else with TMJ...it's gradual.

Why you say that, has the book helped your pain? I have the book and although I found it very interesting and I followed the instructions it has not helped my tmj pain. :(

It has helped me tremendously. Are you consistant with the excersizes? It really has to become your whole life and every second of the day you have to be conscience of your actions. (clenching, etc.)
I also where a splint. Do you?

Has everyone else started the excersizes?

Are you pain free now because of the book? I'm glad to see that the book is helping people.

Yes I was consistant with the exercises. I have used a mouth guard in the past but then i had my wisdom teeth out so the guard didn't fit anymore, I am thinking of getting a new one in the coming weeks. I must admit though that i do need to improve with my posture. I found out from the book that I had a trigger point in my lower left jaw. I tried to follow all the instructions to make it better but so far no good, I'm still in just as much pain. I am waiting to see a ENT specialist about a bump up my nose which blocks my whole left nostril. In the book it say's that a nasal blockage can casue this trigger point. I don't really see though how a bump up my nose can be causing me all this pain.
