Just wondering if someone has taken cinnamon regularly for over a 3 month period and it hasn't improved their situation at all? How much were you taking? Just curious. Thanks.

That would be me. My BG levels are generally pretty good anyway. I've got a bottle of cinnamon capsules I'm finishing up, when they're gone I won't take anymore unless my BG creeps up then I'll try again.

Cinnamon helps me, but I am also on a low dose of insulin and am also taking glyburide and metformin combination. I don't know if it would help that much if I used only cinnamon.

I'm definitely not encouraging any one to stop their meds - just curious if the cinnamon is helping.

I never heard of Cinnamon being used to lower BS. Can you explain how this works or how much...
thanks

I have and did not see any changes with it. I took a teaspoon a couple times a day. Finding a way to take it was a challenge but I came up with a workable solution. I put an ounce or less of milk, heated it and then added the cinnamon. With the liquid warm it devolves right away and actually doesn’t taste bad at all.

I did a little research on this a while back...hang on a minute, I've got to go find the file...OK, I'm back.

I started taking cinnamon based on what I read in this and other (unnamed  ) diabetic forums. My doc hadn't heard of this so I did a quick search of the internet and found 3 article in what I thought were reputatable sources. I printed them for her and included this summary:

"Two of the articles discuss 'methylhydroxy chalcone polymer' (MHCP), which is a water-soluable polyphenol compound found in cinnamon. One of the arcticles stated that in test tube experiments MHCP mimics insulin, while the the article states that MHCP increases glucose metabolism roughly 20-fold in a test tube assay of fat cells."

Try searching for "cinnamon, diabetes, & methylhydroxy chalcone polymer" on the internet.
