 The Wife has a Bi Polar/Anxiety disorder and takes Abilify.I was told Abilify was for the treatment of Schizophrenia and question why this is prescribed. She had a major breakdown about 2 years ago and for a month and a half was haveing conversations with her deceased mother, but I hear these sort of hallucinations will occur during Mania.
She is now stable though thanks to shock treatments and meds that include the Abilify.

Hi, Melvin  My 14 year old daughter just started Abilify and I was told by the doctor that it acts in the capacity as serving as a mood stablizer as well as an antimanic. Of course it is an antipsychotic used for Schizophrienia as well.
I was also told that it is a rather safe drug of choice comared to others that are out there.
I hope that alleviates any concerns you may have. I too was concerned about Abilify being the doctor's drug of choice but after she explained more of it's uses and safety I felt alot better. :) In fact, I was told it would spare my daughter from having to take a third med since it serves two purposes.
Good luck to you & your wife. ~ Goody
