Hi again ladies, as mentioned in a previous post my fiance and I are getting prepared to start trying right after we are married in September. So for these 6 months before I am paying close attention to my body and cycle so we can start TTC well informed and prepared.
So I just finished my period on Sunday and yesterday(monday) I started having what I always thought were ovulation cramps. Because I have never really researched into a womens ovulation cycle I never thought it was weird to have them so close to my period.
Can I really be ovulating so incredibly close to my period??? Does this mean when we start trying I am going to have to BD during my period? Gross!
Could the pain have been something else? I am going to start trying to track my temps because I figure maybe that would be a better signal for ovulation than the cramping, which is gone now by the way.
Any insight or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Erin

How long is your cycle? If you have a short cycle then you probably do O early. Just a word about O cramps though, cramping is a really poor way to tell if you are Oing or not. You are much better of checking your other signs like CM and CP. If you want to confirm that O has occured, then you are going to have to BBT chart. Good luck to you.

No actually my cycle is usually 29 days. I am going to start charting my temps to see. I guess I should wait now until a new cycle starts? Or could I start now? I am on CD9.

You can start right away if you want. It helps that you know what cd you are. charting is the absolute best way to learn about your cycle and your body. You will learn when to expect O and how to determine the best days to bd. It is incredible how much more in control you feel when you chart. It's a little bit of extra work, but it's definately worth it. I can't praise it enough! lol Best of luck,

I would start by talking to your doctor and tell him that you will be planning on starting the process as soon as your married, He may put you on prenatals, its the best way to prepare your body for pregnancy and make sure your healthy. You could also just get over the counter prenatals or something like them. Talk to your pharmacy! Also like the person above said cramping doesnt mean your ovulating, most women ovulate 12-16 days after there period starts. I usually ovulate early on my 12th day, which I never knew until I started testing. I would get a book or do a search on trying to concieve so you know how everything works. I still had friends that thought they could get pregnant anyday of the week until I told them thats not how it works. I guess they never got a very good birds and bees lesson. Good luck and remember sometimes its just takes once and not everyone has issues getting pregnant hopefully your one of them.

Thank you so much for your vote of confidance. Actually I have been doing a lot of research, that's how I found this disscussion board. I have been reading all about FAM and all that stuff. I bought a special thermometer and it had a lot of info in the booklet it came with. I have been recording my temps for 3 days now. On the first day CD9 my temp was like 36.55, then CD10 was 36.45 and now this morning at CD11 was 35.25. I am not sure why it keeps going down? I do it the same everymorning. But I am sure after a few months of doing this I will hopefully see a pattern and by the time September comes I will know exactly when we should be BDing!
Both soon to be hubby and I will be going to the our doctor this summer so we can both talk to her about TTC and what we need to do or NOT do. At my last physical she already tested me for a certain disease(can't remember what it was called) because she knew I wanted to start trying in the near future. I assume I am already vaccinated for it or she would have mentioned it with the rest of the blood work results.
Well it is good to know that those cramps weren't ovulation cramps. And it is good to have ladies like yourselves to bounce stuff off of.
Only 6 months until I really join you guys in this TTC adventure.
Good luck to you all.
