I have been diabetic for 22 years now. For the past nearly two years I have had HORRIBLE swelling from my knees to my toes. So severe that by the end of the night I can barely stand on them. I have had test after test and everything comes back fine. Does anyone have ANY idea what it could be from? I have also been on some heavy water pills and those do not even take the swelling out. HELP PLEASE

I have the same problem and have heard it was everything from poor circulation to congestive heart failure. I don't think they really know. Water pills don't really work and they cause severe cramping in my feet, hands and legs. If you ever find out please let me know.

Has your kidney function been tested? After I had diabetes for about 30 years I had the same thing. My endo said "that happens to some women". I went to another doc, they did a 24 hour urine test with bloodwork and found out that I had kidney damage. Cutting out all the salt (and prepared food out of your diet) might help.
I also have a sun allergy and so my ankles swell in the summer a lot.
Good luck to you.
