I'm being switched from one PPI to the next as they seem to lose effectiveness after awhile. I was just placed on Nexium-2 per day. I've been taking Nexium since Saturday and don't yet notice improvement...my doc says the next alternative is surgery, which I really don't want.

How long does it take to know if 2 Nexium per day will work? Also I am under extreme stress right now-can that affect the working of these meds?

Stress certainly isn't good for anything, and definately isn't good for reflux. Nexium helped me fairly quickly, with taking just one a day, but I have heard it can take up to 4 weeks to really do it's job. Hang in there!

It took me about a month to get a level of nexium in me that made me feel better.

My doctor told me Nexium can take 6 to 8 weeks to see any effect. I've been on it for 2 weeks now, and I definitely notice a difference, it kind of feels like the lump in my throat is a lot small and has traveled lower in my throat. But it's still there, allbeit smaller, but still annoying.
