I am so frusterated and I hope someone here can possibly give me some insight. I have been wearing contacts now for 14 years. I have been wearing the same brand of contacts all these years and never had a problem. Last week i started to get this pain in my left eye. it felt like my contact was dirty so i figured it was time to replace them so i put a new pair in. Well, the pain kept up. It was sometimes a sharp pain other times just dull and annoying. So I finally went to the dr today and she said that my contact is resting on a blood vessel in my eye and she doenst know why. i have had the same size contacts for all these years but for some reason she said that the contact seems to be sitting too close to my eye and is resting on that blood vessel which is causing me pain. she said the white part of my eye seems to be swollen and gave me some medical term for it but i couldnt catch what she was saying. i asked why that would happen and she said it could be a lot of reasons but wouldnt give me any. i asked if it was because i just started a new job where i am in front of the computer all day and have that stupid office lighting, or if its bc my eyes are always dry and i rub them and she just said there are many reasons. i asked if i should be worried and she was hesitant and said no. she said he wanted to try a few things before giving me a steriod. she gave me a contact that is a size larger and told me to go home and try it. i put it in and it hurt even worse so i called her back. she said to come back thur bc she isnt there tom and she will try a size smaller. well i have some free contacts that are a diff brand that are a size smaller. i put it in and it doenst feel right in my eye. it doenst hurt per se but it keeps like moving around in my eye and i cant focus right with it. im getting really upset because i dont understand why this would all of a sudden happen and i dont know if its a temporary problem or not. she wouldnt really answer any of my questions. does anyone have any insight on this? could it be that i just rubbed my eye too hard one day and that it caused the blood vessel to raise and thats why its bothering me? i read something online (the only thing i could find that related to this) and it said that sometimes blood vessels will become irregualr in your eye due to wearing soft contacts and there is nothing to fix it and that when that happens you cannot wear contacts any longer. that will be a huge issue for me. not being able to wear contacts is a nightmare for me.
anyway, if anyone can give me any insight or what not i would really appreciate it.

Can you wear glasses for a few days to give your eye a chance to "heal"?
I'm surprised she didn't recommend this.
Getting contacts to fit correctly is very important to comfort.
The shape of your eye can change over time.
Sometimes it's a good thing, like when an older nearsighted person regains the far sight of his youth (like my dad).
