Kimah5202 03-14-2006, 10:35 PM so if u have a pos test for hep c can that mean u were just exposed to it and you dont actually have it? thanks kim Sponsor Wes1212 03-15-2006, 12:16 AM another, different test should be in order to find out. Kimah5202 03-15-2006, 12:28 AM so IT IS possible to get a pos test from exposure and not actually have it. so confusing...i cant find anything online about exposure but not actually having it. thanks kim  Wes1212 03-15-2006, 12:33 AM A few people clear the virus without medications. That is called "acute hepatitis c" Most people go on to develop "chronic hepatitis c" Only another blood test can say for certain if it has been cleared or not. Kimah5202 03-15-2006, 10:24 AM alright thanks i get it now, they say 80 percent get chronic liver disease the other 20 get over it because its just acute hep c and their blood is no longer contagious right? kim Dale_Ray 03-15-2006, 02:16 PM I tested positive in 94' during a blood donation and followed up with hemotologist who confirmed that the hep C was present. Then the biopsy on the liver. I had a blood transfusion in 1977 and have probably had it since then. My wife and I have been married for 30+ years and she has had no ill affects of the virus. I have heard people speak of false postitive test but not of people who just cleared without medications. However I can't emphasize enought how important it is that you take this up with a doctor. Good luck and I have negative hopes for you (you know what I mean:) Dale Wes1212 03-15-2006, 06:45 PM I guess that another possibility is that the viral load fluctuates above and below the detectable level. That would create false negative test results. |
