It seems that whatever stomach problem I have it's getting worse. My stomach feels like it's burning. Will Aciphex help the burning and what is the medication supposed to do? I briefly stopped taking some pain medication and boom, my stomach symptoms came alive. This scares me. Anybody know? Thanks

I thought that Aciphex was supposed to stop acid production in the stomach which would, in turn, heal any damage to your esophagus and help with any heartburn. I've been taking it for 3 weeks and now it seems that I'm getting new pains that I never had before. I still have some reflux but now I have pain right below my breastbone which is where he said my esophagus was so I'm not sure what is going on. I have a call in to my doctor. I don't want to take any more of these pills unless they are actually doing something. I'm going to ask if its possible for the pills to actually make the problem worse. I'll keep you posted.

Yes, please let me know. I wonder if a stomach ulcer causes burning pain or only GERD or both?

I doubt Aciphex would make the problem worse. However, if it is not workign for you, perhaps you should try another PPI (such as Prilosec OTC).

I stopped taking them and am going to see my doctor on Tuesday. In the meantime, I'm taking OTC Zantac because I had some around. They don't really seem to be helping though.
Does anyone know how long it takes for PPIs to be out of your system?
