Hi,
I get these realy bad pains in my chest. I havebeen to my doctor with them a couple of years ago and had a ecg. He seemed to think it was stress. The pains are really really bad. sort of squeezing pain which can be in the front or back and sometimes in my jaw and up to my ears. Each pain lasts up to a minute and with reoccur for a few days. Usually Patting my back or chest will make me burp and I will feel relief for a minute or so. So i am sure it is a trapped wind thing...but I cannot find any info about trapped wind giving you severe chest pain. I dont feel any acid. I am a nervous person anyway so whwn i get this I am always worring I am going to have a heart attack.

Any info or advice would be appriiciated.

You are listing classic heart attack symptoms (aside from the temporary burping relief). There has been a lot in the news lately about "hidden" heart disease--heart disease that is difficult to diagnose with common tests. I would go to a cardiologist and rule out heart disease. Better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your heart.

Best wishes!

I have the same thing.........and just had a full cardiac workup........it's the GERD in my case....and it's bad. It's also scary, because the pain does radiate to the back, shoulder, jaw and even my tooth a few days ago.

My Doc says it's sooooooooooo similar you can't tell the difference unless you do the cardiac work up to rule the heart out.

WHen in doubt, check it out !

I've had GERD, IBS, Hiatal Hernia and Esophagitis most of my life but never like this. This is really miserable.

It got a lot better after about 5 weeks of meds, and TIME, but I ate some Chocolate for 2 days in a row and BAM it was back on me in a vengenance.

Check out your heart...............then you'll have peace about it whatever it is.

BLESSINGS :D
