Offer her pedialyte. When DS got a bug like that the same age, I first tried water and then lemon lime soda and he managed to keep the soda down, but hurled with the water. Sips of pedialyte. I even got out a baby bottle and would sleep feed him a few sips in the middle of the night so he wouldn't get dehydrated. And if she's starting to feel better, don't make the mistake I made a let her eat too soon. I had mac & cheese down my back. bleah!

Thanks for your quick reply :) I've sent dh out to get some 7up from the corner shop (doubt they'll have pedialyte) She's just crashed out on me but keeps heaving :( Man I hope this doesn't last too long.. we are travelling 10hours on a plane Monday eek!

It's normally a 24 hour bug at most. Hang in there, sorry your poor honey is feeling bad. Wash your hands a ton, you dont' want to be barfing on the plane yourself!

Don't offer water, plain water is very upsetting to the stomach. This goes for anyone, babies to adults. Clear fluids are best. Apple juice, white grape, 7-up, Sprite, Sierra Mist. You can feed it by the teaspoon, right off the spoon, every 15 minutes. Often, they can keep that tiny bit down.

Thanks :) Touch wood... she hasn't been sick since about 11:30 this morning, she's still having bad nappies though and has slept most of the day. I just gave her some Farleys cereal mixed with water and she seems to be keeping it down :) Fingers crossed me and dh aren't next!!

has she seen a doc at all thru out this episode?i personally would be a bit hesitant to actually fly anywhere with a child in this condition if she has not been checked out by her doc to find out what caused the vomiting to start in the first place, you know what I mean?espescially if it turns out that she has any kind of ear problems such as an infection or something? If you cannot actually get her into see her doc before you plan on leaving,I really would highly reccomend she be seen at the very least by an urgent care doc, just so they can give her a full check up,and check for dehydration.

if you don't know what actually caused the vomiting in the first place, this could still be an issue and show itself in some other way while you are either in flight or when you actually get to your destination.its one of those better safe than sorry things ya know?i do hope her recovery is still progressing, but just make sure she is fit to fly before taking off.Marcia

I hope the bug is going away! That sounds terrible. I know when I was little my mom did the warm/somewhat flat gingerale and crackers or dry toast if she's able to gnaw on those a little. We actually bought the little bottles of pedialyte with the nipples you can put right on. Haven't had to use them yet, (crossing fingers) but they're here if we need them.
