I just applied for SSDI a few weeks ago. I had the phone interview and filled out papers to send back. A couple of days ago, SS made a deposit of $0.00 into my checking account. Does this mean anything?

I also received an Adult Function Report. I filled it out and sent it back. My case worker says that most people don't have enough medical reports and information to receive SSDI on the first try. He says that I have more than enough.

I have been approved for my state's medical card, which is very difficult if you are an adult, with no children under 18, and not pregnant. My DHHR workers says that the state has listed me as disabled. I wonder if this will help my SSDI case.

We are living on the refund from my tax return. It will not last long. I hope I can be one of the few that gets approved quickly.

Just a little response to your post. My husband applied for disability in December of 2004 and was turned down twice and we have been waiting on hearing date for almost a year now. He has received Medicaid through the state and he is also listed as disabled and he had medical evidence from 4 doctors and even the SSDI's doctor and they still turned him down. He has been off work with this condition since 11/04 and in July of last year I had to quit work to take care of him. He has to have 24 hour care, and it was either me work and hire someone, which on a minumum wage job you can not afford to hire someone; or me quit work and take care of him myself. I would NEVER let some stranger take care of my family, that is just the way i am.
I hope that you do get approved on the first try, but not many people do. The thing that is upsetting is that you work all your life and pay into this and then we you need it you have to fight for it.

Just my two cents worth

I applied in Nov. 2004..Had updated reports from Orthopedic surgeons, Gi Specialist, PCP, CCF (cleveland clinic), GI Spec. they also had a report from the Dr. THEY sent me too who stated plainly in my favor....turned down initally, and at reconsideration. Filed for hearing and while waiting for a date my file was reviewed by the ALJ (administrative law judge) and found "fully favorable" and approved my disability based on review of medical evidence in the record. I then didn't receive any of my back pay until the end of Jan. 2006 and received my first regular SSDI check on Feb, 3rd. 2006..Although I never heard of them placing 0.00 into anyones bank acct. They may have just been checking to make sure it was an open acct. I would probably call your local SSA office and ask for an explanation about it.
