Need info on the early signs of PD. I haven't seen a Dr. yet, but i'm thinking about it. The past couple of years i & alot of folks around me have noticed my hands shaking. It used to be only occasionally, but now it's more like all the time. I was having dinner at my mom-in-laws the other evening & my 4 year old niece asked me why my hands were shaking. My back & neck are always very stiff, & my posture is slumped pretty bad. Sometimes when i'm walking i kinda fall or lean to one side. When i'm steering my truck my left arm tends to jump up & down. & at night when i'm just sitting watching TV my head wobbles, the wife asks me "what are you doing"....lol Well i'm usually not doing anything it just does that! Now i know something isn't just right, i'm only 39. Also, the past few months my scalp has been so dry it's almost unbearable. Also, i'm wondering if PD is hereditary? I have an Uncle confined to a nursing home because of PD. Any input would be helpful! Thanks, Carolina_Sky

This was the big one that put our diagnosis out there. Do you pick up your feet when you walk or do you "shuffle"? Shuffling is not good!

I too am a "newbie." I'm going to a neurologist this coming Friday. I'm 59 and have had the tremors for a couple years. This last year they have become more noticable. My mother and her mother each had Parkinson's so I have it in the family. I'm also bi-bolar which leaves me with great anxiety dealing with all of this. Any good advice or great jokes would perhaps help me deal with this next week.

I have had PD for 11 years, and I can tell you that the greatest help is to stay positive, keep moving and get out there into the world. It's no fun having PD but you can still live a good and productive life and be happy.

Good luck an God Bless all Parkies

I've been a few years now trying to find out about my memory problems. The neurologist I go to has referred me back to the neuropsychologist to see if they can pin point where the problem is. She noticed that I have a tremor in my right thumb. I also loose my balance without any prevocation. Always to the right. I had hurt my foot 5 years ago and just thought it was from that. I have to admit that I never thought that parkinson's could cause all these problems.

I'll keep you posted as I find out what's going on.
