I'm eating bland, bland foods and although I feel like my throat is healing (I have LPR) am I ever going to eat anything with flavor again. I guess I just need to hear a ray of hope at the end of all this. Thanks! Lori

I, too, eat very bland but diet is really the best thing for GERD. I would always stay away from real spicy foods.

At some point does this ever get under control where you can, just once in awhile, eat a meal that you want to? I notice that many people talk about when they had it in such and such a year they took a certain med, now that they have it back again they are taking a different med. Does this disease come and go? I'm just curious to know how it affects different people. I'm about 3 months into this and can't imagine this being the rest of my life. Thanks! Lori

Lori,
I know how you feel, but it does get easier. When I was first diagnosed in September, I thought I'd never be able to eat again. I eat, but I am real careful about WHAT I eat. Diet is everything for reflux.
Spicy foods aggrevate. I would stay away from them, along with the other no-no's - such as chocolate (caffeine), coffee, tea (you can have herbal), citrus, mint, red sauce, etc.
I have branched out a little and can eat some foods I really enjoy now, such as sushi (no wasabi).
