I know that I've posted before about the trials of trying to lose these 50+ peri pounds, but now I'm wondering if the compounded progesterone cream that I'm using is causing some of my weight gain.
Before starting progesterone I had lost over 10 pounds, although I was exercising quite a bit back then, but once I started the progesterone (which really is helping many of my peri symptoms) it seems like my metabolism came to a crawl.
I've read that once I get my hormones balanced then the weight should begin to come off . Like so many others here I really am surprised that I've gained so much weight despite radical change in my diet. I think that I eat healthier now than I have in my entire life .
Is there something else that I need to do in order to jump start my metabolism ?
I don't want to stop taking the progesterone because it has been a blessing.

I hadven't really heard or read that having too much progesterone causes weight gain. What is important is that our hormones are balanced, not too much or too little of anything. There is no way of knowing if the progesterone is balancing out your estrogen unless you get tested. It sounds as though maybe some of your symptoms have improved, hence not wanting to give up the progesterone cream.
It stands to reason if you've slowed down your exercising (and not your intake of calories) then your weight loss will slow also. I think the older we get, the longer it takes to lose weight. So far, I've been pretty good at maintaining my weight, but I'm amazed at how much less and less I eat to keep it that way. I've especially changed the way I eat over the last 2-3 years.

Hi i am on estrogen gel in the morning and I use compound progest. at night. I have not had any weight gain problems, and even after my gallbladder surgery i lost about 20 pounds and have not gained them back. I am not balanced on my hormones yet. I am so ready to be. Good luck
