I have heard that stress can cause major health problems. Does it affect your BS?
Can serious weight loss be obtained through a low carb diet and exercise while on Insulin and high blood pressure meds?
How much does High Blood Pressure affect blood sugar?
Thanks~

Hi there. When I get stressed my blood sugars sky rocket for no apparent reason. It takes days to get them back into the normal range again. It's pretty much a vicious circle as the more you worry about the high sugar level, the worse it gets. It also dosn't respond to extra insulin either, very frustrating. But then almost as suddenly as it occurs, it subsides. Very strange.

Hi there. When I get stressed my blood sugars sky rocket for no apparent reason ....
When the levels of stress hormones increase, you become more insulin-resistant. And that causes your blood sugar to go up.

Thanks for your responses, everyone. I have been overweight from just after birth and now with taking the Insulin, my NP tells me that losing weight will be next to impossible. I am getting married this year, and my brother is also. I do not want to be a fat bride, or bridesmaid. I recently, (yesterday) joined a gym and I have sworn off most carbs. Aside from manipulating the insulin, is there anything else I can do to shed weight? I briefly heard about Glucerna, its a shake for diabetics. Sort of like Slim Fast, I guess. Is that in fact for weight loss? Has anyone tried it and had success? I need to lose weight while staying on the Insulin.
Thanks...

I hesitate to answer this because I am so new to this, so if I'm wrong please say so!
I read that Insulin might increase hunger, but yes you can lose weight. It comes down to watching calories, carbs and portion control.
We have started a five day a meal plan and we are rarely hungry. You might want to see if a similar plan will work for you.
From being on these boards a short time, I have read that diet seems to be a hot topic. For me I guess whatever works for the individual and their doctor - then that is the right eating plan.
Again in my short exposure to all this - I am personally steering away from any diet drinks, i.e., Slim Fast, etc. It just seems there are more healthy options out there that work much better. If a product promises "miracle" weight loss or a short cut, I am view the product with skepticism.
