Hi
Yes, I've had 2 laparoscopies done. It's a tiny incision near your belly button. Mine are totally healed you can't even see it. Recover time is fairly quick, and I had no real pain. Maybe a little soreness the next day. No bleeding though.
I had it done to remove some endometriosis, but mine seems to grow back pretty quickly, so I guess it all depends on the individual.
It's not a bad procedure at all. Good luck!

I have had 3 laps done and they have all been successful. I actually have 4 scars, one (well actually 3) in by belly button and 3 along my bikini line where nobody but my DH sees them. They cut into the same incisions each time to minimize the scarring. The worst pain of all is the gas they pump into you, it really isn't bad, just pain in your chest because it's hard for that air to escape. Otherwise, under normal circumstances, the pain is VERY minimal. All 3 of my surgeries were WELL worth it for me. Each time they removed endometriosis. It's the only way to diagnose Endo and several other things that can go wrong when TTC. No need to worry, you will be fine. It really is minimally invasive and the recovery time is 1 day, maybe 2 depending on how your surgery goes. I had other complications so mine wasn't that fast....but for the most part, it was pretty easy.
Good Luck to you!!

I had my first lap in January and they removed minimal Stage I endo. I had no symptoms of endo other than infertility. I was sore about 2-3 days after the procedure. It's better if you don't have to go to work, but I could have gone if I had to (fortunately I didn't have to work). There was small amount of bleeding the night of the procedure. One of the worst parts for me was the IV....I hate needles and they put it right on top of my hand where it's visible for me to see and uncomfortable. If you don't mind needles, this probably won't be a big deal.
I don't know if it has helpped because I'm still not pregnant (two months later). I just did my first IUI this month and am in the 2ww so we'll see. I was worried that taking the fertility meds would make the endo grow back faster but my doctor said it wouldn't.....who knows though. My doctor said I could try naturally for 6 months or try IUIs if I wanted to be more aggressive (which is what I decided to do). The endo supposedly grows back in 6 to 18 months....but no one really knows. I've heard some get it back within 2 months. I've never had any symptoms so I have no way of knowing if it's back...I'm going to try IUI 2 or 3 times and then go to IVF if IUI doesn't work.

I had my lap done in Oct 2005 and it went very well. It was recommended to me to take 2 days off from work which I did, but didn't get any rest due to a horrible accident taking the life of my 15 yr old cousin. Talk about stress. The procedure itself was fine though. Small incision as everyone else stated near belly button. Alittle gassy afterward, but fine. Don't worry everything will be fine. Good luck

Thanks for your help. I have unexplained infertility so I am hoping this procedure will get me some answers that I desperately need. We have been TTC for almost 2 years. I hope it is worth it. Good luck to you all. Keep in touch. Pam
