Hi There, My sister was just told by an opthomologist that the discoloration on her eye- which he previously said was nothing- is actually a benign tumor and they need to remove it or it will eventually grow enough to effect her vision. He says he has to cut open the eye, remove the tumor and stitch her back up again- and she has to be awake for the entire procedure! Does this sound weird to anyone else? I want her to get a second opinion even though this doctor is supposidly the number one opthomologist in the city. I mean, how can you tell if the tumor is benign or not withot a biopsy? How can he just assume its not cancer? Shouldn't he be sure? Maybe I'm missing something here. Any info you can pass on would be greatly appreciated. Anyone had or know someone who has had this diagnosis and/or surgery?
Thanks,
Lori
