This is just a vent. Feel free to respond...

I have not been diagnosed with anything. A while back I was having chest pains, didn't know what it was. Doc suspected heart burn although at the time there wasn't any. ha.
I never had an official test to diagnose my problem its just his conclusion. About a month after seeing him I started to get heartburn really bad. It kinda went away. He prescribed nexium, but I don't take it everyday b/c I didn't have it everyday. I noticed peanut butter cups especially would give heart burn. I made enchiladas which I could eat before no problems (they aren't even spicey) by the time I took my 3rd bite I had extreme burning which made it difficult to eat ANYTHING else. I tried chewing on a few tums which worked for about 2 mins, I popped a nexium in too. I had some white wine the other day, by the second sip, burn. Now tonight I have a burn. It's different this time. (I've had this a few times but a few months ago) where I feel like there is a dull burn all the way to my throat, but my stomach hurts. Not horrible pain, but I am pretty sure it's all acid related. ugh.

This stinks!
THanks for listening...

Two points.

1) If you want your Nexium to work, you need to take it every day. If it is too expensive, switch to a cheaper PPI (e.g. Prilosec OTC).

2) You should go to see a Gastroenterologist and get an upper endosopy.

You also have to take a break from the foods that are causing you pain. Your esophogus needs time to heal and get back to normal. If you don't, it will never get better and will get damaged.

I have to agree. You can't go on eating the foods you have been. You need to avoid the problem foods, like spicy and fatty foods, caffeine, chocolate, tomato products, citrus fruits, ect. And you need to take your medication every day. It takes time for the pills to build up in your system and start to heal the damage. And the damage itself will take time to heal. Then maybe, in a couple of months, you can slowly try some foods here and there and see what you can tolerate.

Good luck.
