Hello~
My daughter was born September 2004. Before I got pregnant, I had complex partial seizures about 2-3 days a month that were uncontrollable, usually having about 15-20/day. Before the onset of the seizures, I would have auras/simple partial seizures usually starting the day before and going through until the "complex partial" seizures kicked in. This was like clockwork so to speak in that it was the same thing every month. Couldn't predict when they would happen, but followed the same pattern in the way they would hit and how long they would last.
When I became pregnant, never had one seizure, not even so much as an aura, first time in 15 years I was completely seizure free. My neuro was baffled stating that normally going into pregnancy with uncontrolled seizures alot of times they would even get worse. He said that especially since I had the clusters, they would more than likely continue and more than likely get worse. However, nothing at all. I have had seizures for years and this was unbelievable that I was actually "seizure free" for awhile!
Fast forward to after my daughter was born....I have not had one complex-partial since before I was pregnant with her (had them for years leading up to this). However, now I have simple-partial/auras and when I have them there are far more of them now. In some days, I probably have about 50-75. The auras aren't nearly as bad as the complex partial seizures were, but after having so many in a day I am just worn out/frustrated. I am finding myself completely confused and worn out by the end of the day when these happen.
It's the strangest thing and it's almost like my brain was "re-wired" after my baby was born. After having years of uncontrolled complex partial seizures, not one single one after my daughter was born. However, the auras have picked up by about 10x.
Sorry about the long post, but was wondering if anyone had experienced major changes after pregnancy.
Thanks so much!
Amy :)
