I am going to FLORIDA from NY when my dd is just about 7 months old. Does anyone have any advice Shoudl I bring her food, formula and diapers or just buy it when I am down their. Also, the rent a car you can now get with a car seat. Should I do that or bring my own?

we went to florida when my ds was 8 wks old. Make sure you have a pacifier or something to suck on, and drink, I made sure I had enough food and diapers for the trip and then some just incase. I also mailed a box with diapers, wipes, snacks, food, formula etc... cost me bout 25 bucks to mail the box, or you can buy when down there, if you want. I would use the carseat they have, they would keep up with standards I am sure, the only problem we had was when we went to restaurants, we had to hold him or use the stroller, which we brought with us, just went into the cargo of the plane, but yours will be old enough to sit in a hairchair probably, if you prefer your carseat, it can go in the cargo of the plane, it is just harder to cart all the extra stuff around with you, but people do it all the time. If you have a reputable car rental place, I would not worry about it. And the reason we sent a package of stuff down was cause we did not have a rental car, we were going to disney and they provided all the transportation to and from the parks, but I wish I did get a car, as we could not go anywhere else, I will do that next time. good luck and have fun

If you're going for a long time I would buy staff there, but if you're only going for about a week, I would bring staff w/ you, b/c at least on your way back home you will have less to bring home. For food I would just bring enough for couple of days and buy more once you're there (unless you use very uncommon brand name foods). I would not bring my own car seat, the less luggage the better. Last time we went away our DS was 5mo, we didn't bring enough diapers thinking that for 10days, we will buy some, but once we got there, we could only find big 144 diaper boxes (not the 30-60 that we could buy locally in our size). So rather then bringing 35 diapers w/ us there and couple on our way back, we ended up bringing about a 100 diapers back.

If you're visiting family, I would ask them to go to local stores and make sure that you can buy the same brand of formula or favorite food there or bring the amount you will need in a small container.
