Hi,
For about 3 years my jaw has, clicked, creaked,it used to lock, esp in the morning, but the locking isnt the problem now. Now it just clicks all the time. I dont get much pain from it, my majour problem is the facial muscle fatigue and my darn ear constantly popping everyday for bout 2 years, about once every year, i wake up fine.
Every time i move my head up or down etc my muscles sorta tense and pull etc, its scary esp as im agoraphobic {with panic disaorder} and housebound, so i get paranoid my muscles ill cease up! Does it sound like tmj? Ive had thisproblem along long time and i know eventually i will need a diagnosis? But hopefully no hospital visit? Please help i cant take much more, ive recently been told i uffer depression too, which isnt surprising since i dont want to get out of bed in a morning cos the fatigue is awful :(

It does sound like it is tmj related but it needs to be investigated further my a qualified doctor - I don't think it will improve on its own. It could also be neck related so you may want to see a upper cervical chiropractor. Any one who suffers from contant pain is somewhat depressed with good reason. When I first started with tmj all any of the drs I saw wanted to do were to prescribe anti-depressants. However they can help - from what I have been told the anti-deprressants affect an area of the brain near the pain center - so if one is dulled the theory is the other will be dulled as well and the pain could ease up. But if you are having a structural or functional problem with a joint the pain will persist.
