I have a rather silly question?
why does fat seem to store its self on different parts of the body?
with me its my stomach and sides...every other part is fine my legs/ arms/chest/ face/neck/back there not fat at all?
I've been told as we get older it tends to go just where it wants to go?
but for some people the fat goes all over there body...I never really understood that?
anybody got any ideal as to why?

I don't know the exact reasons, but I know there's a very good reason behind why we gain fat in certain places. Because human beings were starving for most of our history, evolution has produced a body that's not only very efficient at storing fat, but storing it in specific places, and for good reason. I think a lot of it has to do with protecting certain organs. That's certainly the case for women, who have to be concerned about protecting their reproductive organs. That's why they tend to carry more fat in their hips, thighs and buttocks. It's also why women have a higher body fat percentage than men in general. I'm not sure what the reason is for men gaining fat in their midsection. Maybe ancient man really needed a place to rest his beer mug. :) But even though it may seem like fat gets deposited everywhere, the truth is your body is a lot smarter than that. Just as you're smart (hopefully) about where you put your extra income, your body knows where best to deposit its energy surplus.

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree. Whether you stand all day or sit won't affect where fat gets deposited. It's entirely under the control of your genes. Whether you do sit ups or not has no impact on whether you get a belly. You could do sit ups everyday, but if you're eating too much, you'll still get a belly. Likewise, you could sit all day and eat too much, but you won't get fat legs. You will most likely get a fat belly.

I am Gonna have to agree with OutTolunch on this one.
there is absolutely no way to Control where Fat is stored or where it is lost from. To suggest that Doing situps will prevent Fat from being store in the abdomin is just completely false.
Where Fat is stored has something to do about Alpha and beta receptors. Womem have more alpha receptors in there Hips and thighs and Men have more in their abdomens.

I don't know what to believe...if its gentic?...my parents both was slim and my siblings are all slim..me well I was slim but chose to over eat, and I believe thats why I have a bigger belly and sides (obviously).
I got on a diet the first of the year low calorie diet and along with exercise I'm loseing that fat..but its always the belly to go last (for me anyway)..I been loseing weight but so far I still have belly fat its not all that much or don't look to bad,..other people tell me I'm not that fat but when I look in the mirror..I find they was just trying to humor me.
Its hard to believe the fat is stored within a person because of there genes? on a perticular place?
the way of life has a lot to do with it...especially if that person over eats and eats the wrong foods and don't exercise
I tend to think that if you over eat and eat hi carbs to many will put the fat on you and where it goes, the fat don't care....maybe fat has a mind of its own?...because when I over eat that fat heads straight for my stomach and sides and just stays there it don't wanna go anywhere eles...if I had my choice as to where I want the fat to go.....It has to be in my ''butt'' because I have no butt.
I wonder if theres a way I could switch them''beta receptors'' around? say put them in my butt and not my''stomach''....nah''

:) :) :) LOL
Genetics may have something to do with where it gets stored....but not as much as to if it gets stored.
Extra Calories get stored....Bottom line.....Where they get stored...Who knows why...but it doesnt really matter cause you have no control over it!
The Hardest PArt is to Know What is too Many Calories? There Are formulas you can use...but they are all just estimates.....every person is different.
And Chevy.....Too Much Fat and too Much Protein will get stored as fat just as easily as Carbs. In Fact Fat And Protein will get stored as fat easier then Carbs. When you consume More Fat Or Protein that the body needs at the time It goes straight to Fat (Some Protein will go to Glucose and then Glycogen) But Carbs will go To Glycogen before they will go to Fat. So Unless your glycogen is full..it wont go to fat.
But what Matters the Most is the net result.....Your Body Is Burning Fat all The Time a certain % will be fat and a certain % will be from Glycogen. The Less Glycogen you have the larger the % from Fat. But You are also Storing Fat almost all the time as well. ITs very rare that the body will use all the fat, Protein, and carb that it consumes at a meal....so some of that will Almost Always be stored as FaT. If you Keep your calories in check over time you will be burning more Fat then you are storing.
This Doesnt mean that All Calories are completely equal though.....As Adding Good Fiberous Carbs and enough Protein to your diet and spreading it around throughout the day will help you maximize the Amount of calories your body burns. (Eg Thermic effect). The Amount that this makes a difference is rather minimal compared to what Strict Calorie counting will do...But over Time it can Make a difference.

I don't do sit ups and somehow I still have a flat stomach. I also don't recall sweating from my stomach to get rid of the fat I used to have there.
