Hi everyone,

I have posted on other boards and cannot find the answers, so I decided to try this board.

I have been sick since October.

October. I went to the Doc. presenting weakness and chills, ran bloodwork and came back with a WBC in the 14 thousands. A round of antibiotics.

November. Went to the ER because while walking thru the mall over the weekend, my back started hurting and I felt like I was going to get sick and faint. Bloodwork came back with WBC in the 11 thousands. No antibiotics. Said it was viral.

January, went to the Doc. I had a fever and felt very weak. He looked at my throat and did a culture and found I had strep throat. Funny though, my throat did not hurt hardly at all. Another round of antibiotics. No WBC taken then.

February, went to the OBGYN and he did a CBC. Came back with a WBC of a whopping 19,800. Another round of antibiotics.

A round of steriods followed this.

Referral to an Oncologist/hematologist.

I had a Bone Marrow Biopsy and PET Scan. NO CANCER FOUND!! I thank God for that. Drew blood then and WBC was barely high in the high 10 thousands.

The PET Scan did pick up an abnormality in one of my lymph nodes in my neck. He said there was no cancer in the node, but the node had INFECTION in it. This condition is called Lymphadenitis. The NODE is NOT sore at all. I know that swollen nodes usually are.

Oncologist put me on an antibiotic that is only supposed to be used for SERIOUS INFECTIONS. It is called Clindamyician (sp). 300 mg 3 times a day.

Now I am going to go see an Infectious Disease Doctor on Monday.

I am also having problems with my Gallbladder, I think, and will soon be seeing a Gastro Dr.

Is there anybody out there than can help. Anybody have high white cell counts with chronic infections. Anybody ever have an infected lymph node.

I am worried.

Thanks in advance!!

Brenda,

If you are having this many infections, then I would say that your immune system is in shambles. I would suggest (quite seriously) that you begin supplementing with high doses of vitamin C, say 500mg taken 4 times a day. With repeated doses, you would be able to maintain high blood levels of vitamin C throughout the day.

Why is vitamin C so important? Because it is required for enhancing immune function and fighting off infections. The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine states the following about the role vitamin C plays in enhancing immune function:

"Vitamin C plays an important role in the natural approach to immune enhancement. Although vitamin C has been shown to be antiviral and antibacterial, its main effect is via improvement in immune function. Many different immune-enhancing effects have been demonstrated, including enhancing white blood cell response and function, increasing interferon (a special chemical factor that fights viral infection and cancer) levels, increasing the secretion of thymic hormones, and improving the integrity of the linings of mucous membranes. Vitamin C has direct biochemical effects on white blood cells similar to those of the immune-enhancing compound interferon."

"Numerous clinical studies support the use of vitamin C in the treatment of infectious conditions, particularly the common cold. In addition to its well-known effects in reducing the frequency, duration, and severity of the common cold, vitamin C has also been shown to be useful in other infectious conditions. Vitamin C levels are quickly depleted during the stress of an infection."

Hi Brenda, sorry to hear you've been having so many issues. Have you seen an immunologist & or had your IgG (immunoglobin) levels checked? There are unforunately so many things that could be going wrong with you. Any progress this week with the doctors?
