Hi everyone. Just wanted to see if anyone could tell me what they think. I have been having sharp pain on right side under rib but not too much in the front the pain gets worse if I move around but doesn't seem to get worse with the food I eat. The pain in my side gets so bad that if you touch the area it send sharp pain through my stomach. I was also having rectal bleeding for about a week. My husband is active Military and the base hospital said they thought it was my gallbladder so they sent me to the surgeon on base he sent me for a hide a scan and that came back normal. I went to the gastro and they did a colonoscopy that was normal. They then did a upper gi and the nurse at the test said I have gastritis. I go back to see my gastro dr. on Wed. My biggest question is if I have gastritis would I have the pain in my right side? I also last night felt like there was pressure under right rib but in the front and if I layed on right side it got worse. Could it still be my gallbladder even though the hide a scan was normal or is this how gastritis feels???? Any feed back would be great before I go back to the gastro on Wed.

I was diagnosed with gastritis and have pains just as you describe except on the left side. My doctor wasn't convinced the pain was from the gastritis. I don't know if it could radiate over to the right side like that.
I was reading about a condition called costochondritis which is an inflammation of your ribs and I'm wondering if that's what I have because this pain almost feels like I have swelling and it seems to be more musco-skeletal than something in my internal organs, you know? Is yours the same?

Thanks so much for your reply. I hurt right under my rib but it feels very sore to touch it and when it is hurting real bad I can't stand up straight. Is there any tests your dr. can do to find out for you? Mine sounds a little different then what you are discribing but it is so frustrating isn't it? I am on my way to the gastro dr. right now and I hope to get some anserws!!! Best of luck to you and I'll let ya know if my dr. says anything that might be helpful.
