I was put on the Nuvaring this month and was not prepared for the side effects. I've been extremely tired, nauseas, and moody since. Plus, I've been on my period for 9+ days now. Is this normal?? Will it go away??? When??? I just don't feel like myself at all and would just rather sleep the time away. that's not a choice with 3 little ones, but I just don't have any energy.

My dr is trying to help me out with this and I'm also considering other options, as I am taking the pill for ovarian cysts. I might try the herbal route.

I'd just rather suffer the one week of pain I'm in due to cyst than to feel this miserable...just not myself!

I'm trying not to give up especially since it's only my first cycle.

Any suggestions? Would a different pill give me the same side effects?

What kind of herbal route are you wanting to try? I have cysts to and am interested in that!!

Well, I did a little research on herbs about 1 year ago. I was nursing at the time so only bought what was "safe". I have viles of False Unicorn Root and Blue Cohosh. The stuff tastes nasty, but it did work for the short period I used them...with NO SIDE EFFECTS. There are other herbs like Vitex ,chasteberry, red raspberry leaf (that was helpful during my pregnancies) & Dong Quai that you might want to "google"

My day really hasn't gotten much better...severe mood swings....I scare myself! I was yelling and screaming at my daughter over a shoe!!! UGH! Totally out of character!

I don't want to give up and feel like a "quitter" by taking my ring out. I'm trying to weigh out the pluses and minuses of both.

Good luck!

Kim -
How long have you been using the Nuvaring???
I wasn't prepared for all of these side effects, especially with nuvaring.
I can't use the mini-pill or other lower doses since I'm taking the pill for cysts...ugh!

Thanks...glad to see I'm not alone :)

Wow, I am glad I came across this post. I have been on nuvaring for under a week and I feel like a totally different person. I snapped at my 2 yo this morning over practicaly nothing at all. I wanted to inflict physical harm to the produce lady who ran out of the ceaser light salad. I was scaring myself and after talking to my husband decided to take it out. I knew I was being ridiculous and it was totally out of character. I am sorry to see it happing to you but also glad to see I am not alone. And I am really tired too. I switched from 1/2 caffine coffee to regular and just thought it was me.
