I have had the scariest week that a mother could possibly face. my son was born march 8th and last Monday night i was holding jackson when all of a sudden white stuff came running from his nose and he quite breathing it seemed as a million hours before the squad got to my house and he was breathing again. the idiots that they are tryed to tell me that i had not burped him well enough and thats why it happened and they didnt want to take him to the hospital well that didnt sound right to me and we took him needless to say he was transferred by squad to akron childrens hospital which is rated top 10 in the usa. he stopped breathing again on the way there. to make a long story short we spent the entire last week in the hospital as it turns out he has apnea and periodic breathing which means that he actually forgets to breath for more than 20 seconds at a time. they did a sleep study on him and he stopped breathing 49 times in a 4 hour period. (and they said i just didnt burp him) so now my little man is on medication to mature his brain to remember to breath and on an apnea machine 24 hours a day to alert us if he stops breathing and doesnt remember to start again. he will be on this for at least 8 weeks. through all of this we are lucky first that i was holding him monday night when it happened and that we know whats going on now because the doctors said that we would have certantly woken up with a sids baby one morning.
keep an eye on all of those beautiful babies!

OMG! I can't believe the paramedics said that! Good thing for mother's intuition. That is so scary. I hope they can do something to help him. Please keep us posted.
I'm so sorry you had to experience that! Thank goodness you were holding him when it happened and now you have the right medication and help to improve his apnea! That's horrible about what the paramedics said!!!
I hope your son gets better soon and your family is making it through this!
Take Care!

My heart sank when I read the title of your post. Thank goodness someone ( meaning you and your doctors) knew what the H@LL they were doing! That must be the scariest thing to ever go through. I am so glad he is doing better. I would report those paramedics.............

hey all, this was suggested on the pregnancy board also, but I will put it here too, those angel monitors work wonders and if this happens to anyone else, you will know when your baby stops breathing, and you can take proper measures, the alarm goes off in babies room and in yours. I have this monitor and it works well. I hope this does not happen to anyone else, this is a scary thing, and my heart goes out to you. I purchased mine at a baby fair for $40, but you can probably find it in babies r us, toysrus etc... good luck all
