I have been sick for about a year. Upper stomach pains right below my rib cage. Doctors just passed it off of course to acid reflux, here take a pill and go home. I did not back down and just walk away. I pursued my health issues and finally back in Oct I had an endoscope done. It showed at that time mild esophogitis and a mildy inflammed stomach along with testing [B]positive for H. Pylori. I was put on the regimen of two weeks of strong antibiotics. I completed the course and felt a "little" better, not 100%. About six weeks ago my stomach pains, bloating, pressure, diarreah, constipation, etc. all come back with a vengenance. I forgot to say all this time I was taking Nexium. Okay, so in for another endo. Tested for Celiac which was ruled out. The findings of my 2nd endo and biopsy are Chronic Gastritis with Intestinal Metaplasia, but no H. Pylori this time. Doc puts me on yet another two week regimen of antibiotics because he says the Nexium might have masked the biopsy and gave a negative reading of the H. Pylori. I AM MISERABLE. I have pain, nausea, etc. every single day. Has anyone ever had H. Pylori twice? How long before I start to feel better? He also is starting me on a low dose of Prozac, something to do with serotonin in the intestines. Any advise, or help would be greatly appreciated.

LouAnn,

Not everyone can take the strong antibiotics for ulcers without having bad side-effects. As you know treatment for gastritis is to take a PPI like Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonics, or others.
I found that none of them helped me with inflammation of the stomach lining.

I went to an Alternative Care MD and he gave me Mastica and a probiotic supplement--- after taking Mastica for 2 weeks twice daily -- an endo exam by my gastro -- said I was cured and could not find any inflammation --- I continued the Mastica bottle I had -- taking 2-500mg caps between meal for 30 days.

You may want to try this --- I have since bought Mastica online.

A low dose of an anti-depressant is some times given to break the mind -- gut connection-- that causes diarrhea/ constipation. Seratonin is a neuro--transmitter in your brain -- it is not in your intestines.

I wish you well~~~Harry

Thank you for your reply! I am finishing up my antiobiotic regimen on Monday. I figured I went this far I may as well go all the way. I see my doc in a week after that. I really do appreciate your info. I am just hoping that all this pain and nausea is a side effect of the antibiotics. I am going to read about the Mastica you are talking about. Thanks again! :D
