My husband has had gerd for about 8 years now,his doctor said it was one of the most severe cases of gerd he had seen.My husband vomits in the mornings before he goes to work. Not everyday but at least 3or 4 times a week.He has been on acipex, nexium, and currently on protonix. The last 3 days he has vomited more blood than he usually does(usually there are streaks)I have made him another appt. with his doctor.I am very concerned.Has anyone else vomited blood like this? Thanks

My doctor told me to go to the emergency room if that happens. I hope a doctor can see him very soon.

Serenity,
I have no idea what is happening with your husband, but can you get him to a doctor at a university hospital? A place where doctors are more likely to consult their fellow doctors? Blood sounds pretty serious to me.
Also, has the doctor ever recommended that he take 2 doses of his PPI per day? I believe you're currently on one dose with a dose of H2 at night. Many of us here are on what's considered to be stronger therapy - 2 doses of a PPI per day (for instance, 2 40 mg Nexium capusles, or 2 Protonix capsules).
Does he have any diagnosed ulcers? Has he been tested for h.pylori?
