Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me, i was diagnosed with trigeminal nueralgia last year got meds that helped but seemingly it's something that never leaves you once you have it each time it re-occurs it's worse. The thing is i have had pain in my face jaws, head, ears and teeth for about 3 weeks now hoping it's not the trigeminal nueralgia coming back and was wondering if it could be TMJ. It's driving me mad and making me very short tempered with everyone not getting a sleep and even when i do get a couple of hours i wake to the same constant headache which seems to get worse as the day goes on.
any help is greatly appreciated.
P.S. what sort of meds can i take for the pain

Can you describe your symptoms a little, then we could possibly try and tell the difference. Trigeminal neuralgia does produce different symptoms than TMJ but there can be some cross over type symptoms.

I also was told my trigemial nerves were my problems. I traveled hundreds of miles to hear that. I had 3 times when the pain in my upper jaw bone was so servere I cried most of the time.
I am now being treated for TMJ and TMD which includes the pain in my jawbone and jaw joints, and the muscles in my face. The pain is quite servere also.
I would suggest seeing a TMJ specialist now. I know of one dentist that cut a women's nerve because he couldn't stop her pain. She is now numb on her face. Hope this helps.
