DHs SA shows "84% Amorphous" and "7" for % normal morphology.

What does it mean?

Thank you.

Morphology is the proper shape of the sperm, which is needed for penatrating an egg. Abnormal morphology would mean the sperm may have two heads, two tails, abnormal shaped heads or tails and therefore they cannot penatrate an egg unless one of the normal shaped ones made it to the egg. I was told morphology may be the most important factor in sperm for conceiving naturally since the sperm indeed have to get into the egg. Normal morphology is 40%-100% normal shape. I think their are methods of helping morphology, you'll probably need to see a urologist or a Reproductive Encronologist about the matter. How was your dh's motility and count? I wish you luck on your TTC journey, we're dealing with male factor problems as well though my dh has normal morphology at 60% normal, we have a count and motility problem. Feel free to ask anymore questions you might have, hope this helped, God Bless!

All other factors are normal, just morphology is out of range. I let my DH speak with the RE yesterday about it. He recommended DH goes to a urologist to see if it can be changed, but in the meantime the doctor still said to go ahead with clomid/IUI, try for 2 cycles and then go to IVF.

Good luck to you! Just a bit of hope...my Dh had 10-12% normal morph. I am 15 weeks preggo! He can take vitamins and have him change his diet.Do another SA in a few months! It may improve! Good luck!

My husband has abnormal morphology. As per our RE and urologist's suggestions, I've got him on the following vitamins/minerals:
a good-quality multi-vitamin
vitamin C
vitamin E
selenium
Folic Acid
It's a lot of little pills to take each day but apparently they can be extrememly helpful.
