Does anyone know anything about clinical trials for new drugs for Alzheimer's? Is anyone participating in these trials? I've heard about a vaccine in development, wondering if anyone knows anything about this or anything else for this disease???
Thanks,
R.

Hi rickyk,
I have heard about some new drugs coming out for alzheimers. But, my dad is too far along for them. Most are for slight to medium. My dad is now Medium to Full Fledged. (Sorry, I forgot the correct words to use!)
Good luck to you. Maybe some of the other will talk with you in the am. My dads dr. (neurologist and family) just said that was as far as he could go medicine wise. Mainly because of the side effects and his age and level of ad and parkinsons.
Take care.

Aricept is good for early Alzheimers I hear. My grandmother has late stage, and we put her on Namenda a while back. She benefitted from it for a while. Not long after we put her on it, I walked in to her room to find her feeding herself! Whereas they usually have to feed her. It's only short term though. I think I read somewhere that it really only helps for about 6 months. It's a fairly new drug, especially made for late stage Alzheimer's..
