does anyone else feel this way? The feeling has completley taken over my life lately. I have had many many tests done and they all come back saying my heart looks great. My best friend had a heart attack last year when she was 37 ( I am 37) but she has diabetes and it hadnt been under control for a long time. She lived and has made a full recovery. So I do understand that some of my fear comes from that but I am but I can't get it out of my head. I went to the Dr yesterday and she upped my paxil and she looked at my last stress test (from about 6 months ago) and said that everything looked perfectly normal and in my head I know that the pain in my chest is actually from needing to go to the chiropractor for an adjustment but no matter how much I try to tell myself that it doesnt seem to work. any suggestions?
Sorry this is so long

Cally,
Hi. Not sure if you are aware or not, but I just thought I'd mention that you could also be having pains in your chest purly from the anxiety that you have been experiencing. I have huge health anxieties, and my husband has suffered from anxiety and severe panic disorder for about 12 years....both of us have had the chest pains. I know it's hard but you've just got to try and reassure yourself that if all your tests come out fine and the doctor agrees that everything is good and normal, that you are going to be ok. I don't have specific anxieties about my heart, but I did fear I was having a heart attack one night and made my husband (boyfriend at the time) drive me to the ER. I woke up out of a deep sleep with my heart racing. They did an EKG at the hospital and said everything looked fine. I still have the racing heart fours years later but no heart attacks. :) I wish there was something more I could say to make you feel better, but believe me, I know how it is when someone tries to tell you that it's all in your mind and to try to forget about it. Easier said than done. I just try to take things day by day and when I start to fret about my health, I think of something different instead. It's taken a long time, but I am doing so much better than I was four years ago. I hope maybe soon you can find that same outlook. Good luck to you. And there are people here who understand what you are going through, so it's a great place to talk to someone and ease your fears. :)

Hi Cally
anxiety can cause the heart to hammer, thud, race and jump around in the chest, is this happening to you?if so a beta blocker will help and goes OK with paxil
fear or worry about the heart is common for anxiety sufferers and often many tests and doc's reassurances dont help

sometimes an elderley heart specialist who is near retirement and who therefore has much experiencews with your problem is able to give the reassurance needed
the chest pain might be heartburn from GERD or acid reflux, a common anxiety problem

Cally,
You're welcome. I am glad I could help! Also too, just make sure that when you have these anxieties, TALK ABOUT IT to someone. I think one of my biggest problems was keeping it all inside and driving myself mad with fear that something was wrong with me. When I finally started to talk about it with my friends and family, it really took a lot of the worry off of my mind. I really hope you feel better soon, believe me, I know all to well what you are going through. :)

Hi Cally,
Yep, another "heart attack" person here!

Some days are worse than others - but I experience some form of heart attack fear almost daily. Especially when I am having a lot of palpitations.

I also have chest pains - sometimes on the left, sometimes in the center. Sometimes it lasts for hours or days. It's terrible!!

Glad you found this board, I know I was so relieved to find out that I'm not alone.

I'm getting ready to begin Beta Blockers to see if they will help!

Good luck! J

Me too... I am a 34 y/o male who has had numerous tests done to r/o any heart issues. Well you guessed it, the pain is always there in some form. I know it's in my head but.....Good luck to you and just try to reassure yourself daily that you are okay. I know it's a struggle.
