Hi, Its been awhile since I've posted. I'm going to the doc today with BP running aroudn 150/100 avg the past few weeks...spiking again. Anyhoo, I noticed if my BP is up and I take my clonidine it tends to me make me sleepy as opposed to not making me sleepy when I take it when my BP is somewhat normal. Is there another med much like clonidine without the sleepiness and dizziness? Its awfully hard to work like this.

I have not tried this medicine but I have tried 2 ACEs and 2 ARBs and I felt so dizzy, sleepy, tired and uncomfortable. I was on Zebeta (Beta-Blocker) for 3.5 years but I got depressed although it didn't causes much of the side effects of the others medications I have tried I still can't use it.

I have tried Norvasc and it didn't has any effect on my blood pressure. Now I'm on CardiazimSR 120 twice daily (It's a CCB like Norvasc) and it's great comparing to other medications but still not very effective. I think with diet and exercise I will be able to manage my blood pressure. It takes time to find something that works for you. Good luck

Ask your doctor if you he can prescribe the clonodine "patch" for you. I have it, you change it every 7 days. I have NO side effects at all from this patch except a little itching about 2 days after I apply a new patch, and it disappears soon after.

Wow, I should have asked earlier. I went to the doc today and she gave me Toporol XL 1x a day. I'm going to try it.
