You know, I was thinking about all the risk factors there are and it seems to me that getting into a fistfight isn't listed anywhere. I wonder about this...I bet it would be a huge risk factor.

I wonder about this...I bet it would be a huge risk factor. Domestic violence, brawling, tattooing, or ANY exposure to another person's blood is a potential risk. I have discussed these and more in the presentations I have made to medical groups, conferences (women's health in particular) and public forums. thanbey brandy1966 03-24-2006, 03:56 PM It just struck me as strange that no one mentioned that anywhere I read, and I am glad that you mentioned that because I really don't think people really are aware. I actually don't think many people are aware of Hep C either, because I know I wasn't. I just had a good friend diagnosed with it. I am going to get tested again also because for some reason my baseline tests (EIA3 and RIBA) keep coming out indeterminate. I don't know why they just don't do a PCR test. I am glad my liver functions are so good though! I guess that doesn't mean anything.... thanbey 03-25-2006, 01:45 PM It just struck me as strange that no one mentioned that anywhere I read, and I am glad that you mentioned that because I really don't think people really are aware. My theory on this is that "awareness" most often means talking about treatment and is often supported by those who make treatments. Few resources are available for true awareness and fewer organizations still are willing to stick their necks out and talk bluntly about the issues affecting positive people. The organization I founded has as it's motto and mission "get tested." Amazingly, we have survived for 15 years talking about the difficult stuff and speaking out on issues that need to be talked about such as the ones you raise. Continue talking about this wherever you go and do not be discouraged by ignorance. take care, thanbey brandy1966 03-25-2006, 11:01 PM I wish the schools would inform the kids about all the dangers of all the diseases and the risks associated with them. I have told my kids about them, but like I said, most people aren't really aware of this. If I knew where to start, I would sure help spread the word. thanbey 03-25-2006, 11:08 PM I wish the schools would inform the kids about all the dangers of all the diseases and the risks associated with them. I have told my kids about them, but like I said, most people aren't really aware of this. If I knew where to start, I would sure help spread the word. Grow where you are planted. Just start talking about it. Church, clubs, PTA, school nurse, anywhere. It all makes a difference.
