Lexi4529 03-25-2006, 06:12 PM Ok well my lil man is now 6 months(in a week) and ive worked out alot to get back in shape, Anyone got any tips for excersizing the baby belly? mine isnt really bad...just a little bit lose, anyone got any tips? After having two babies in two years, I returned to my pre-baby weight fairly quickly (I think breastfeeding and simple exhaustion helped me with this), but my body did not look the same; it looked distorted and stretched out of shape. My waistline was shot; I had belly flab. I felt flabby all over. I wasn't working at the time, and i wasn't able to read much either, because the children would not allow it; every time I picked up a book, they were immediately screaming for attention. So I was watching a lot of TV (something I hadn't done before, and haven't done since). So here's what I decided to do: Every time a commercial came on, I would get up off the couch and do sit-ups. I did sit-ups all during the commercial break, no matter what I was watching. When the commercial was over, I could sit down on the couch again. I ended up doing two or three hundred sit-ups a day, at my peak; sets of twenty-five or fifty at a time (depending on how long the commercials lasted). My belly was soon hard and flat as a board. I've heard it said that it's impossible to spot-reduce, that there is no exercise that will make you lose weight in one particular spot... I have not found this to be true, however. My belly always firms up within weeks of starting a sit-up regimen, even if I only do 60 a day. To lose weight or tone up all over, however, I think aerobic exercise is necessary; I like riding bikes, running, and in-line skating. Some people say that walking is enough to help you get in shape, but I haven't found this to be true; I like walking, but I've never noticed that it has any particular effect on my weight, health, or fitness level. For me, it's simply not enough. Then again, maybe I'm just not walking far enough, or fast enough. I think walking is a good place to start... but once it becomes easy, you should slowly switch over to running. You could, for instance, walk one block, then jog/ run one block. I've found that running helps me tone up and lose weight quickly, while walking has little or no effect. And sit-ups... I definitely recommend those. I never would've gotten my pre-baby waistline back without them. Good luck! :) Just concentrate on how nice it is to have your body back again, in whatever shape... at least the pregnancy is over, and your body is yours again, to do whatever you want to with. JuniorsMommy929 03-26-2006, 07:29 AM Now, im told YOU can get rid of it, depending on how bad it is, and mine, isnt bad, i had a vaginal birth, and as of right now, i dont plan on having anymore babies, my mothers stomach isnt stretched, and a few friends also, they say it takes time and alot of excersize, i had crazy stretch marks on my belly and somehow they i guess...faded away? because they are gone :bouncing: |
