View Full Version : 911/ER/infection/feel like road kill

I figure I'd been having CPS on and off for a couple of hours- judging by the last thing I clearly remember, and was just feeling worse. So, unlocked the door, hanging on to everthing between the door and the chair. Then the marines landed- about 5 firemen with the EMS people. My dog got all Cujo on me, and wouldn't let them near me, so she got booted off my lap- one of the guys got her by the collar and stuck her in the bathroom (crying all the way), and I was off to the ER...still pretty groggy, but at least could answer simple questions. I don't usually have 'runs' of seizures without an infection, and had a fever, so they started with my 'usual' (bladder), and that was it. Didn't get home til about 3 a.m. (sent home by wheelchair van from the hospital- that was weird, but nice of them- guess they didnt want me in a cab since I'd had another CPS there).

I was most glad to see my 4 legged baby when I got home. She has seen 911 people before, and nobody said she was a pain (I was more out of it), but last night, she didn't want mama messed with. She turns 5 on Tuesday- probably sucking up.

I'm still tired- woke up way earilier than I'd figured, but got up, got to the store, and got the antibiotics so I could start them. I see my regular doc on Thursday, so hopefully I'll be doing better. Her office staff gets a bit nervous if I look 'off'...been shipped via 911 twice from the doc's office for seizing.

I'm guessing that i had at least 5, just by what time I last remember, the little bits of TV I caught between seizures, and the auras. That scared me, living alone. I don't like to bug 911 for anything that hasn't either fallen off or caused something to look like a CSI scene, but something wasn't right last night.

Ouch! I'm sorry about all that!

How did you call 911? I don't think I could of dialed a phone after 5 complex partials!

I once had 4 complex partials in a row that lasted about 30 minutes. Hubby was asleep. I remember trying to yell in my sleep for him to wake me up. I remember once I did wake up I couldn't talk. I just rolled to my side and laid there for about an hour before I could get up. It was pretty gnarley.

I've had more seizures due to the flu I've had this past week. I guess our bodies are weaker when we're ill and we're more suseptible to triggers.

Could you take cranberry pills, like once or twice a day? I have to to prevent bladder/UTI infections. I get those pretty bad.

I hope you get feeling better soon!

Thank God, the 911 operator had all of the address info/name stuff on her computer. I just had to say "too many seizures" or something like that. (the 911 people are all but on my Christmas card list anyway after the last couple of years of being hauled off after being totally out). I'd come around enough to know something wasn't right. NOW, I look like a target practice dummy for IV sticks....lots of bruises- those deep big purple ones. I was sort of in and out at the ER, but could at least get out yes/no answers after I'd been there for a while. Slept a lot yesterday, though, and went to bed early, then didn't get up til about 10 this morning...still don't feel right.

Well, 3 ER visits in 5 days, 2 by 911 (one called by some one who had called me- knowing something was definintely wrong. At least the dog didn't get all "Cujo" about the EMS people this time). All related to the bladder infection, and really lousy left kidney and bladder pain- no meds for that, just the antibiotics. I might try and get to the store for some over the counter bladder pain pills. Maybe they'll work on the kidneys too (right has some pain, but nothing like the left). I see my doc tomorrow (if I can get there). I hope she has some ideas. In the mean time, it's cranberry juice and gatorade... getting tired of both.

Also, LOTS of red tape with the medicaid stuff...they're saying I applied 3/06...I appplied 5/05 (and have documentation). SO, lots of calls out about that. It feels really lousy to have taken care of people or 20 years with no concern about their payor source, then when I need some help, it's hell to get through the hassles- I know it's the same way for everyone, but nobody plans on this. It's so frustrating.

Aw I'm sorry about all that ! I hope you heal up and get feeling better!

There are so many medical bumps and bruises when it comes to epilepsy. My mom read that many doctors write it off as mental illness and throw depression pills at epileptics. :{ I couldn't believe that but it doesn't really surprise me.

I hope you get better soon!

At least one doc understood that the seizures are often my only sign of any infection due to the autonomic disorder, and altered sensation. But I still hurt !
